About the Artwork:
"In creating 'Nocturne's Crescendo,' I sought to transpose the visceral essence of jazz — its soul, its complexity, its vibrancy — onto canvas. My inspiration was drawn from the ephemeral moments of harmony that arise within the chaos of a jazz performance, where every musician contributes to a dialogue greater than the sum of its parts. This painting is my ode to the fluidity and spontaneity of jazz; it's a visual representation of the way notes can hang in the air like a mist, or burst forth with the brilliance of stars against the midnight sky. It was my intention to capture not just the sound of jazz, but the feeling—the electric, raw emotion that it stirs in the soul. The brushstrokes are my instruments, and the colors are my notes, all coming together to form a composition that, I hope, resonates with the rhythm of the night and the spirit of improvisation."
The painting was created with acrylic paints on a uniquely textured composite aluminum panel.
Thanks to the use of spacers, the artwork “floats” on the wall in an aura of beautiful light, made possible by the app-controlled LED backlighting.

"This painting from Andrew Manaylo's "Midnight Jazz" series is a captivating visual symphony that resonates with the improvisational spirit of jazz music. The composition, rich with gestural brushstrokes and a harmonious yet mysterious interplay of shadow and light, embodies the rhythm and movement reminiscent of a nocturnal jazz ensemble. The use of bold black forms against a backdrop of muted grays and stark whites evokes the image of instruments and musicians melding into the abstracted atmosphere of a dimly lit jazz club just past midnight.
The occasional streaks of orange and blue suggest the unexpected yet deliberate bursts of a saxophone's cry or the vibrant hum of a double bass, echoing the spontaneous combustion of sound in jazz. This is a canvas where the visual and the auditory converge, each stroke a note, each smear a chord, creating an ensemble of visual melody and dissonance.
The artist gave this artwork the aptly mysterious and elegant name "Nocturne's Crescendo". And indeed, the painting embodies that deep and soulful crescendo that is felt rather than heard, the peak of an evening's performance that lingers in the air like a haunting melody.
It is a piece that demands the audience to listen with their eyes and see with their ears, engaging with the canvas as one would with a complex, layered piece of jazz — each time finding a new note, a fresh rhythm, a hidden harmony. Manaylo's work is a celebration of the senses, a midnight ode to the enduring allure of jazz."
